Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

Memphis veteran right winger Don Parsons and Colorado rookie goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo have been selected as the Week 14 recipients of the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week awards. Parsons enjoyed an outstanding week with seven goals and three assists in four games, while Colaiacovo recorded a pair of wins and a shutout in his first two professional starts.
Parsons, a 5-time CHL All-Star and 2-time CHL Most Valuable Player, began his week with a clutch birthday performance on January 17th in the RiverKings' 5-4 overtime win at New Mexico. Parsons tied the contest with under four minutes to play in the third period, then potted the overtime game winning goal. Later in the week, he added two more goals, including a shorthanded marker, in a 6-3 loss at Tulsa, then exploded for a hat-trick and two assists in an 8-3 home win over Bossier-Shreveport. Parsons leads the CHL with 35 goals, and is on pace to record his fourth 50 goal season with Memphis. Earlier this year Parsons, the CHL's oldest player, scored his 1000th professional point.
With fellow Colorado rookie Tyler Weiman enjoying a remarkable season, Colorado's Colaiacovo began his pro career in fine fashion this week, allowing a single goal against in two Eagles victories. He allowed a single goal against in his pro debut on January 19th as Colorado stopped visiting New Mexico, then turned in a shutout performance Saturday night, making 28 saves to blank visiting Fort Worth 2-0. His twin brother Carlo is also an accomplished player, with the defensemen splitting time between the St. John's (AHL) and Toronto (NHL) Maple Leafs the last two seasons.
