
Scholarship Winners Announced

SPOKANE, WA - F&M Bank and the Spokane Indians announced today the winners of their college scholarships for this year. Katie Matthews (West Valley High School), Rachel Wagley (Shadle Park High School), Jie Jiao (Central Valley High School), Alicia Wheeler (Rogers High School), and Shawn Hennessey (Liberty High School)will all receive $500 towards their college tuition.
"The scholarship recipients this year are among the brightest and the best in our community and we feel blessed that through our partnership with the Indians we are able to help them achieve their education and their dreams," said John Wagner, of F&M Bank.
These awards are based on achievement in four areas: scholarship, leadership, character and community involvement. The scholarships were open to any student who attends a high school in Spokane County.
"The selection process was tough since there were so many good applicants," said Andy Billig, President of the Spokane Indians. "We feel that we've picked some very special kids here, and are happy to be helping them go to college."
The scholarship winners and their families will be hosted at the Spokane Indians game on June 21st and honored for their achievement during a pre-game ceremony.
