Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, today announced goaltender Cory Schneider has been named the Reebok X-Pulse AHL Goalie of the Month for the month of November. Schneider finished the month 5-0-0 with a 1.20 goals against average and a .959 save percentage in five appearances last month.

Schneider, 22, began the month by earning his first shutout of the season Nov. 2/08 @ Peoria when he stopped all 27 shots he faced. He then went on to stop 26 shots in Rochester in a 5-1 Moose win on Nov. 7/08. When the team returned home to face the Toronto Marlies on Nov. 14 & 15/08, the Marblehead, MA native appeared in both games and stopped 64 of 67 shots as the Moose swept the Marlies. As a result, Schneider tied his own team mark (Feb. 17-March26/08) for the longest winning streak by the Moose goaltender with nine straight wins. Then on Nov. 20/08 vs. San Antonio, Schneider set the new team standard when he stopped 22 of 24 shots in a 4-2 Moose victory. Schneider was then called up to the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 22/08 for his first NHL appearance and start on Nov. 30 @ the Calgary Flames and stopped 28 shots to earn third star honours.

As a result, Schneider is still listed as the top goalie in the entire AHL in goals against average (1.37), while he is now third in the league in save percentage (.945) and wins (10-1-0).

Last season, Schneider earned the nod as AHL Rookie of the Month in March as he finished with a record of 20-12-02 with a goals against average of 2.28 and a save percentage of .913. He was a standout for three seasons at Boston College (2004-07), and represented the United States at the World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006.

Schneider was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the first-round, 26th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
