Schneider Named Pitcher of the Week

June 29, 2006 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

Pleasanton, CA- The Golden Baseball League announced today that Reno closer Scott Schneider has been named Golden League Pitcher of the Week. Schneider is the third Silver Sox player to garner a weekly award (C Marcus Jensen and P Ben Thurmond swept the awards in week one).

Schneider set a league record by recording four saves in a single week, including closing both Silver Sox victories in a double-header sweep of Yuma. The Virginia Beach, VA resident still has not surrendered a run on the year and fanned eight this week to earn the award.

Originally a 12th round pick of the Angels in 2000, Schneider is 1-0 and has struck out 21 batters in 14.1 innings this year. He leads the league with seven saves.

The Reno Silver Sox are back at Peccole Park on Friday, June 30 at 6:35 to begin a seven game home stand, where they will host the Fullerton Flyers and the San Diego Surf Dawgs. The game on the 30th will be the second of three Winner's Corner Ball Nights, where the first 1,500 fans through the gate will receive a free baseball featuring the heroes of the San Francisco Giants. The home stand will also be highlighted by fireworks on July 3, sponsored by Pacific West Builders, in celebration of America's Birthday. Tickets to the games are available by calling the Silver Sox box office at (775) 348-7769 or by going to www.silversoxbaseball.com.
