Flyers Lose Fifth Straight

June 29, 2006 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release

The Chico Outlaws swept the two game series against the Fullerton Flyers by taking Wednesday's game 7-2 at Nettleton Stadium. Chico got two 2-RBI doubles from Craig Kuzmic to put the Flyers away early.

Fullerton took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Peanut Williams.

The Flyers were down 2-1 when Todd Gossage hit a groundball to third baseman Bret Levier with a man on second in the 3rd inning. Levier attempted to tag the runner Gandolfo heading towards third when Gandolfo ran onto the infield grass to avoid the tag.

The umpire did not call Gandolfo out for running out of the baseline. Gandolfo scored on a throwing error by Levier on that same play.

Later that inning, Flyers Manager Garry Templeton was ejected by the home plate umpire.

Chico took hold of the game when they scored four runs in the 4th inning. Gandolfo and Todd Gossage drove in runs in the inning, which was capped by Kuzmic's second 2-RBI double.

Jeremy Sugarman was chased in the 3rd inning and Mike McTamney, Robert Mason and Wes Faust combined to throw scoreless relief the rest of the way.

The Flyers got a run in the 4th inning aided by two Jesse Kovacs errors and an RBI by Jacob Wallis.

The Flyers have a day off tomorrow before they begin a four game series with the Reno Silver Sox.
