Sioux City Musketeers News Release
(Des Moines, IA) - Akira Schmid was flawless in net Friday night as the Sioux City Musketeers erupted for three goals in the first five minutes of the third stanza, more than enough to take down Des Moines 3-0 at Buccaneer Arena.
Brian Carrabes deflected a loose puck past Buccaneer netminder Derek Mullahy just over a minute into the third period to put Sioux City out in front. Two minutes later Ben Steeves scored off of a deflection from Ethan Edwards. Less than ninety seconds after that Matteo Costantini corralled a 2-on-1 breakaway pass from Bennett Schimek and his shot whizzed past Mullahy to put the Musketeers ahead by three goals.
Schmid finished with 27 saves as the Musketeers improve to 17-18-1 overall. The two squads will rematch on Saturday with puck drop set for 6:05pm.
