RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers edged out the Lincoln Stars by a final score of 3-2 on Friday night.
In the first period and on the power play, the Stars took a 1-0 lead when Nikolai Mayorov (4:30) scored on a one-time shot from the right circle. Soon after, the Lancers went on their first power play of the night where Zach Dubinsky (6:28) ripped the puck past Ryan Ouellette from the right circle. Zach Dubinsky (10:58) added another goal after shooting the puck in off the backhand through the legs of Ouellette for a 2-1 Lancers lead.
In the second period, TJ Schweighardt (0:53) netted his third goal of the season after shooting the puck from the right side to beat Ouellette on the far left side. The Lancers kept a 3-1 lead going into the second intermission.
In the third period, the Stars would add another goal from Clay Hanus (13:38) for a 3-2 score. The Stars pulled Oulette for the extra attacker late in the game, but could not even the game. Jakub Dobes stopped 11 of the 13 Stars shots he faced in the game.
The Lancers are now 5-1 against the Stars this season. Omaha is now 21-15-0-1 on the year with 43 points and a spot at 2nd in the USHL Western Conference.
The Lancers and Stars will battle it out again tomorrow night at the Ice Box. The opening puck drop is set for 7:05 PM.
