
Schmaltz and Olofsson Named to 2012-13 USHL All-Rookie Team

Green Bay, WI - Today the USHL announced that forward Nick Schmaltz and defenseman Gustav Olofsson have been named to the 2012-2013 USHL All-Rookie Team.
Schmaltz ranked fourth in team scoring for the Gamblers during the regular season tallying 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 64 games. The Verona, WI native is considered by many scouts to be the top 1996 birth year forward in North America. Last season, the North Dakota recruit appeared in 11 games scoring four points (one goal, three assists.) and a plus seven plus/minus rating.
Olofsson appeared in 63 games during the regular for the Gamblers registering 23 points (2 goals, 21 assists) to accompany a plus 11 plus/minus rating. Last season, Olofsson skated with the Colorado Thunderbirds program of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League where he posted 30 points (2 goals and 25 assists) in 38 games. Olofsson is a native of Boras, Sweden but moved to Colorado three years ago with his family and adapted to North American style hockey quickly.
