Regina Pats News Release

The Regina Pats (17-29-6-3) entertain the Prince Albert Raiders (31-17-4-3) today at 2:00 in the Agridome. The game marks the return of former Pats' captain Chris Schlenker to the Agridome for the first time since the multi-player trade which sent the popular veteran to the Raiders on January 8th. The Pats have been off since Tuesday, when they tied the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-3 in the 'Dome before 5,273 fans. Jon Bubnick (2) and Dan Waschuk scored the goals while Dustin Slade made 29 saves in net. The Pats were 1/5 on the powerplay and 4/5 killing penalties. The tie brought the Pats record against the East Division to 9-8-1-2, and extended their unbeaten streak to four games overall. Slade is expected to miss today's game due to one-game suspension for his match penalty received Monday against Moose Jaw.

PATS NOTES: Regina is 10-10-5-1 on home-ice, 3-4-3 in their past 10 games and 5-12-4-1 versus the East Division. Rick Rypien is the team's PM leader (150) and leading scorer (16-20-36). Waschuk is second in scoring (16-20-36) followed by Bubnick (16-17-33). Regina enters the night eight points behind Brandon for third-place in the division, and 19 points up on Saskatoon for the final playoff spot. The Pats are 0-4-0-1 against P.A. this year.

RAIDERS NOTES: P.A. is 13-12-1 on the road, and 5-5-0 in their past 10 games. In their most recent action, they fell 3-2 to the Wheat Kings in Brandon Friday. Seth Leonard and Chris Schlenker scored the goals while Rejean Beauchemin made 21 saves in goal. Mike Nichol got the win in goal for Brandon making 29 saves as Josh Harding got the night off. Leonard is their leading scorer (39-31-70) followed by Mark Ardelan (14-45-59) and Travis Young (6-37-43). Ardelan is their plus/minus leader (+21) and Evan Schaeffer leads in PM (155). The Raiders enter the night tied with Moose Jaw for first-place in the East. After tonight, the Raiders host Calgary on Friday, then return to Regina Saturday night for a Valentine's Day encounter.

QUOTABLE: "We have no argument with the league's suspension of Dustin Slade. You can't be doing those things....the league doesn't like it. They deal with it and we have to deal with it after that. Sure there are some incidents that happen on the ice but Dustin has to let us handle them. If he starts doing those things it's going to happen more often. If other teams know they can get him off his game, or out of the game, they're going to try to agitate him more." - Pats coach Bob Lowes.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Pats have the WHL's 15th-powerplay (14.5%) and 19th penalty-kill (78.4%).....Raiders have the #1 powerplay (24%) and 16th penalty-kill (79.9%).

LAST NIGHT IN THE 'DUB: Calgary 3-Kelowna 0, Kootenay 4-Swift Current 2, Portland 3-Seattle 1, Spokane 4-Prince George 2, Everett 3-Vancouver 0, Tri-City 3-Moose Jaw 1, Medicine Hat 3-Saskatoon 2(OT), Kamloops 2-Red Deer 1 (OT).
