Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Waterloo Black Hawks forward Wyatt Schingoethe stands 91st among North American prospects eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft, according to the final ranking released by NHL Central Scouting Wednesday.

Schingoethe is up from 132nd in the NHLCS January midterm rankings. He was joined on the Central Scouting final list by teammates Ryder Rolston (102nd) and Gabriel Carriere (23rd among North American goalies). Waterloo affiliate Zach Michaelis, who appeared in nine games for the Hawks last season, was 203rd.

Schingoethe tied for the USHL lead with six game-winning goals during 2019/20, helping the Black Hawks to the best record in the league's Western Conference. The Algonquin, Illinois, native finished third on the team with 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists), second among the club's goal-scorers and tied for third in assists. Schingoethe's +17 plus/minus differential placed fourth on the team and tied for 18th overall in the USHL. He missed just two regular season games during his two seasons in Waterloo and built his respective goal and point totals from 11 and 33 last year. Schingoethe is committed to Denver.

Rolston was on the ice for 42 games for the Hawks. He notched 16 goals (third) and 17 assists (fifth) for a total of 33 points, ranking four on the team in overall scoring. Rolston delivered three game-winning goals, including two in overtime. Near midseason, he also helped the U.S. Junior Select Team win a bronze medal during the 2019 World Junior A Challenge. Rolston will play college hockey for Notre Dame.

Carriere was in the crease for 21 of Waterloo's 33 wins, and was one of just three USHL goalies to reach the 20-win threshold. The Ottawa native posted two shutouts to boost his .905 save percentage. Carriere's 2.57 goals-against average stood sixth in the league at season's end. He is committed to Vermont.

The 2020 NHL Draft had been scheduled to begin June 26th in Montreal. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the draft will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
