Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that Antwone Savage, a member of the 2006 Champion Shock, has been assigned to the 2007 roster by the arenafootball2 League Office.
Savage signed a contract with the Dallas Desperadoes in October, but was released in their final round of cuts. Last season, Savage led the Shock with 1,851 all-purpose yards. His 85 receptions tied him for the team lead. 21 of those catches went for touchdowns, including the first touchdown in Shock history. In the post-season, Savage added four more touchdowns, including two in the ArenaCup Championship game.
"Antwone is a veteran of this league," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "He knows the ins and outs of this game and is able to apply that knowledge to put up the kind of numbers he did last year and we hope he will continue that this year."
Savage, the first player in Shock history to sign a contract with an AFL team, will join the team in training camp next week. He is the seventh player from the 2006 ArenaCup Championship roster to return to Spokane. The Shock will open their season on March 31st as they host the Stockton Lightning on Northern Quest Casino Field at 5 PM. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 242 7462.
