Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have agreed to terms with left-hander Reid Santos for the 2010 season.

Santos, 27, was originally selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He spent six seasons in the Indians organization, advancing as high as Triple-A Buffalo in 2008. Santos spent the 2009 season with Rochester, Class AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The left-hander enters the 2010 season having allowed just 628 hits in 600 and one-thirds career innings while posting 529 strikeouts to just 188 walks in that span.

"Santos is a quality left-hander with experience at the Triple-A level," said Doherty. "Adding him helps round out our rotation for the season."

His best season came with Double-A Akron in 2007 where he went 8-2 with a 2.72 ERA in 96 innings, spanning 39 appearances, 10 starts.

Kansas City will host exhibition games against Kansas City Kansas Community College on May 11 and 12. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign against the RailCats in Gary, IN on May 20 and will host the defending champion Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28 at 7:05 p.m. Single-game and season ticket packages are available now by calling 913-328-5618. Mini-plans are also on sale for as low as $30! For information on group outings, call 913-328-5623. Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
