Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

DUNEDIN, FL - RHP Luis Santos (W, 2-0) twirled a quality start in the Dunedin Blue Jays (25-14) 7-2 win over the Clearwater Threshers (24-15) on Wednesday night at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. SS Gunnar Heidt and 1B Ryan McBroom each provided two-run home runs to aid Dunedin's offense.

The Jays captured a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a wild pitch to score Heidt, and their lead was never in jeopardy from that point. Dunedin's shortstop went deep to left field in the third, giving them a 3-0 lead.

With the Jays' offense rolling, Santos allowed single runs in the fourth and seventh innings. He struck out exactly one batter in his first six innings allowing six hits over 6.2 innings.

The Jays got to LHP Brandon Leibrandt (L, 0-1) allowed four runs over five innings. In a 3-1 game, CF Anthony Alford gave Dunedin another run with a double down the left field line. After another run on Heidt's third RBI, a double in the seventh, McBroom pelted a two-run home run to center, putting the Jays up 7-2.

With Dunedin now in sole possession of first place in the division, the two teams head to Clearwater for another contest. RHP Chris Rowley battles RHP Luke Leftwich with first pitch at 7:00 PM.
