Santa Cruz Warriors Mount Fourth-Quarter Comeback to Drop Stampede

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors used a late-game comeback to top the Idaho Stampede 101-88 Saturday night at the Kaiser Permanente Arena. The win moves the Warriors to a half game behind rival Bakersfield Jam for first in the West Division.

The Warriors were led by Cameron Jones, who ended the night with a game-high 21 points and seven assists. Darington Hobson recorded the only double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Stefhon Hannah scored 20 points.

Idaho was paced by Justin Harper, who scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Durrell Summers added 18 points and five boards, while Coby Karl dished out a game-high 11 assists.

There were 22 lead changes in the game. The Warriors were down by as much as nine in the fourth quarter, but a Hilton Armstrong dunk put Santa Cruz ahead 85-84 with 5:22 left in the game. The Warriors went on a 16-4 run to close out the contest, holding Idaho to just nine points in the fourth quarter - the lowest output for an opposing team in the final frame this season.

Santa Cruz shot 50.7% from the field, compared to Idaho's 36.8%. The Warriors won the rebound battle (54-39), had more assists (29-21) and scored more points in the paint (48-42).

The Warriors will tip-off against Reno on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser Permanente Arena.
