Santa Cruz Stumbles in Stockton

STOCKTON, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (10-14) falls to the Stockton Kings (11-12) on Thursday night at Stockton Arena, 109-99. Golden State Warriors Assignment Center James Wiseman scored 18 points and six rebounds in his first game since undergoing surgery to repair a right meniscal tear on April 15, 2021.

Santa Cruz led by two points at the end of the first quarter, but the Kings stormed back in the second outscoring the Warriors 42-21 and taking a 19-point lead into halftime, 62-43. Wiseman tallied 10 points in the first half for the Warriors.

Stockton was able to extend the lead to as many as 30 points in the third quarter and entered the final frame leading, 96-72. Santa Cruz opened the fourth on a 12-4 run to cut into the deficit but both teams scored a total eight points in the final 6:03 to play and the Kings sealed the win.

The Warriors had both two-way players in action for the third time this season with Quinndary Weatherspoon leading the team with 28 points, eight rebounds and Chris Chiozza adding 11 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Center Selom Mawugbe came off the bench and tallied 10 points.

Stockton was led by guard Quinn Cook's 28 points off the bench and had three players who all hit three three-pointers (Christian Terrell, DJ Steward, Cook).
