Santa Cruz Warriors News Release

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors dropped the Austin Spurs 109-94 Tuesday night, putting an end to their nine-game win streak behind a double-figure scoring effort from five different Warriors.

Santa Cruz was led by guard Elliot Williams, who tallied 30 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds. James Michael McAdoo, on assignment from Golden State, recorded 29 points on a 12 of 15 shooting effort, pulled down 8 boards and had 3 blocked shots.

Austin was paced by Erik Murphy, who had a game-high of 31 points and 19 rebounds. Salinas native Orlando Johnson scored 21 points on an 8 of 14 shooting effort. The Spurs were without guard Bryce Cotton who was signed to a 10-day contract today by the Utah Jazz.

The first quarter saw Santa Cruz lead by as many as 10 points, before Austin's late run to erase the deficit and edge the Warriors by one point heading into the second frame.

The Warriors outscored the Spurs 35-26 on 62% shooting effort in the second period, including a 14-point quarter from James Michael McAdoo.

Austin came out of the break with their best team scoring effort of the night (60%), but it was not enough to eclipse the Warriors lead, as Santa Cruz would enter the final frame up by three points.

Austin tied Santa Cruz early in the fourth quarter, but McAdoo's intense play on both ends of the floor would boost the Warriors to a lead that they would never concede to Austin.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will face the Westchester Knicks at 7:00 p.m. PST on Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or catch the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, via www.santacruzbasketball.com.
