Energy Fall in Overtime to BayHawks

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (16-17) fell 120-114 to the Erie BayHawks (14-21) Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Jarnell Stokes with 27 points and six rebounds. Kalin Lucas added 26 points. The BayHawks were led by Seth Curry with 29 points.

The Energy jumped out to an early lead over the BayHawks in the first quarter. Midway through the quarter, the Energy had opened up an eight-point lead. Jarnell Stokes led the Energy with nine points. Seth Curry and Austin Daye added eight points each for the BayHawks. Iowa led 30-24 at the end of the first quarter.

The Energy took control of the second quarter, opening up an 18-point lead over the BayHawks. The Energy hit four three-pointers, bringing their first half total to seven. Iowa shot 59 percent from the field in the half while Erie shot 42 percent. Through the first half, Lucas led the Energy with 16 points while Daye led the BayHawks with 14. Iowa held a 61-43 lead heading into halftime.

The Energy continued to control the game during the third quarter. Erie was able to close the gap to 11 points, outscoring the Energy 31-24 in the quarter. The BayHawks continued to fight back to get into the game and took the lead for the first time with 3:35 left to play since early in the first quarter. It was a close battle in the closing minutes of the game. The Energy held a two-point lead with :02.8 left on the clock. Erie inbounded the ball and Daye tipped in a missed shot as time expired to force overtime.

In overtime, Erie opened up a quick five-point lead led by Curry. Iowa was able to pull within a point, but was unable to take the lead and fell 120-114.

Iowa plays at home again this Friday at 7 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. It's Guys Night Out presented by Whiskey Dixx, BINGO presented by G&L Clothing and Domino's Family Day.
