Santa Cruz Loses Steam and Drops to Agua Caliente, 131-108

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (10-16) lost to the Agua Caliente Clippers (17-10) Saturday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena, 131-108.

Santa Cruz gained as much as a 12-point lead in the first quarter and led, 34-27, to move into the second. The score was tied, 54-54, with 2:58 remaining in the half before the Clippers closed on a 14-6 run to go into halftime with an eight-point advantage, 68-60. Forward Jerome Robinson had 15 first half points for the Warriors.

The Clippers led by as many as 19 points early in the third, but Santa Cruz got within five points, 95-90, with 2:38 left. The Clippers answered the Warriors rally with back-to-back threes and went into the final frame with an 11-point lead, 103-92. Clippers Guard Xavier Moon scored 12 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and fueled the Clippers to the victory.

Robinson finished the night with a season-high 36 points. Center Selom Mawugbe had 14 points and nine rebounds. LJ Figueroa came off the bench to tally 14 points and eight rebounds.

Clippers Guard Nate Darling was hot behind the arc finishing with six made three-pointers and 26 total points. Center Shevon Thompson added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
