Santa Cruz Gets Grind out Win over Oklahoma City

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Blue in a 108-103 victory Sunday night to improve to 24-13 on the season.

Santa Cruz was led by Elliot Williams who had 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Golden State Warriors assignment player Ognjen Kuzmic, collected a total of 23 points, 8 rebounds, and a game-high 6 blocked shots. James Michael McAdoo finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.

The Blue received solid performances from Frank Gaines, Marquis Teague, and Semaj Christon, who all scored 18 points apiece for the Blue.

The first quarter saw Santa Cruz race ahead thanks to a solid 15-of-21 team shooting effort (71%), pushing the Warriors ahead by 13 points heading into the second frame. Dominique Sutton notched 9 first quarter points, while Elliot Williams, James Michael McAdoo, and Ognjen Kuzmic all added 8 points apiece.

In the second period, the Blue eclipsed the Warriors double-digit lead with the score knotted at 53-all with 30 seconds to go in the half. An Elliot Williams jumper would give the Warriors a two-point edge heading into the break.

The third quarter was tightly-contested, seeing four different lead changes and four ties. The Warriors entered the final frame up by 6 points behind buckets from Darington Hobson and Elliot Williams.

The fourth quarter came down to a tight battle for the win, but the Warriors would pull ahead in the waning minutes behind an Aaron Craft three-pointer and an explosive dunk from McAdoo. Elliot Williams's free throws would solidify the Santa Cruz victory.

The win over the Blue marks Santa Cruz's fifth straight win.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will face the Texas Legends at 7:00 p.m. PST on Wednesday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
