Blue Beaten in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., March 1, 2015 - The Oklahoma City Blue fell in the final minutes to the Santa Cruz Warriors, 108-103, on Sunday.

Frank Gaines, Semaj Christon and Marquis Teague all scored a team-high 18 points apiece as six Blue players scored in double figures. Christon added seven assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Chris Singleton recorded his first double-double since joining the Blue with 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Xavier Alexander scored 11 points with four boards and Maurice Sutton added 10 points and six rebounds.

After trailing by 16 in the first quarter, Oklahoma City outscored the Warriors 31-20 in the second period to trail 55-53 going into halftime. The Blue and Warriors exchanged leads four times in the third quarter with Santa Cruz owning a 79-73 advantage after three frames.

Oklahoma City used a 19-3 run to go up 87-84 midway through the final quarter before the Warriors outscored OKC 15-5 over a four-minute stretch to go ahead by seven. The Blue came within one point of Santa Cruz twice in the final minute, including on a Gaines three-pointer to make it 104-103 with 16.1 on the clock. The Warriors held off Oklahoma City by going 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final 28 seconds.

The Blue (21-17) pulled down 18 offensive rebounds, good for 27 second-chance points.

Santa Cruz (24-13) was paced by Elliot Williams with 32 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
