Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, S.D. (September 27, 2007) - Sanford Health announced today that their recent outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament raised $3,500 for the Mike Miller Foundation, a direct supporter of Sanford Children's. In addition to the $3,500 raised from the event, the Sioux Falls Skyforce announced a matching $3,500 donation, increasing the event proceeds to $7,000.
"To have this level of success our first year is exciting," said tournament director Paul Ten Haken. "We are looking forward to growing this event to be the premier 3-on-3 tournament in the region. In addition, having a community partner like the Skyforce share our commitment to children speaks to the character of their organization."
Held August 11, the Streetball Challenge was played in downtown Sioux Falls and featured 80 teams of all ages from a four-state region. Event officials are already making preparations for next year, including considering expanding the event to allow even more teams to participate.
"We are pleased to have been a part of this great event," said Skyforce owner/president Mike Heineman. "Anytime we can give back to the community and helps kids at the same time is really a win-win for us."
Season tickets are now on sale for the 2007-08 season. Discounts and benefits are also available for groups of 10 or more. The home opener is set for Saturday, Nov. 24 against the Tulsa 66ers. Single game tickets will go on sale in early November. For information please contact a Skyforce representative at (605) 332-0605.
