Sanchez Becomes 78th Player to Go from Kannapolis to MLB

CLEVELAND, Ohio (July 13, 2014) - The Chicago White Sox recalled former Intimidators infielder Carlos Sanchez to the Major League roster prior to today's game at Cleveland, making Sanchez the 78th player to go from Kannapolis to the Major Leagues since 1995 and the 54th since the Intimidators became a White Sox affiliate in 2001.

Sanchez, who turned 22 last month, spent the second half of the 2011 season with the Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. He hit .288 (76-264) with a home run, 27 RBI, 10 doubles, and a triple in 63 games from June 27 through the end of the season. The switch-hitter from Maracay, Venezuela, opened the 2012 season with Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem and appeared in the All-Star Futures Game that season. He opened the 2013 season with Triple-A Charlotte as the youngest player in the International League at 20 years old.

This season, Sanchez was batting .291 (102-351) with five home runs, 42 RBI, 13 doubles and six triples in 89 games for Charlotte.

Sanchez is the first former Intimidators player to reach the Major Leagues this season.
