San Jose's Troy Grosenick Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week
December 12, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that San Jose Barracuda goaltender Troy Grosenick has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 11, 2016.
Returning to the lineup after more than two weeks on the injured list, Grosenick stopped all 64 shots he faced in eight periods of work, including back-to-back shutouts over the weekend.
Out since leaving San Jose's game on Nov. 22 with an injury, Grosenick played the final two periods of a 4-0 loss to Stockton on Thursday night and turned aside all 23 shots he faced. He got the start on Saturday and made 15 saves as the Barracuda blanked San Diego, 3-0, then came back with a 26-save performance and his AHL-leading fourth shutout of the season in another 3-0 win over the Gulls on Sunday.
Grosenick ended the week not having allowed a goal in his last 181 minutes and 36 seconds of action.
A fourth-year pro out of Union College, Grosenick has a record of 5-4-1 in 12 appearances for the Barracuda this season, ranking fifth in the AHL with a 1.98 goals-against average and seventh with a .928 save percentage to go with his league-best four shutouts. The native of Brookfield, Wis., originally signed as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks in 2013 and has played 111 career AHL games, going 54-41-8 with a 2.70 GAA, a .904 save percentage and seven shutouts. Grosenick has also appeared in two NHL games with the Sharks, earning a shutout in his debut at Carolina on Nov. 16, 2014.
In recognition of his achievement, Grosenick will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Barracuda home game.
