San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 11, 2003) – San Jose offensive specialist Aaron Bailey was today named the Arena Football League's Offensive Player of the Week following his record setting performance in the SaberCats win at Chicago on March 9.

Bailey (5-10, 190, Louisville), in his third AFL season, hauled in five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown, while adding a team-record four rushing touchdowns in the SaberCats' 71-49 victory against the Chicago Rush on Sunday.

Acquired from the Carolina Cobras in the off-season, Bailey made his 2003 season and team debut against the AFL's No. 2 defense (232.3 YYPG and 43.0 PPG) and helped keep the SaberCats (4-2) tied for the Western Division lead with the Los Angeles Avengers.

This marks the second time Bailey has earned an AFL weekly award and the seventh time a San Jose player has been honored with the Offensive Player of the Week award.

The SaberCats open a three game homestand on Friday, March 14 against the Buffalo Destroyers at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that game and all remaining home games at HP Pavilion are available and can be purchased through all Northern California TicketMaster outlets and at the HP Pavilion box office.
