Dallas Desperados News Release

The Arena Football League today announced that Dallas Desperados WR/LB Andy McCullough was named the league's Ironman of the Week. The award is the first such honor for McCullough and the first time a Desperados player has ever been named AFL Ironman of the Week.

McCullough put together his best all-around game in helping the Desperados total their highest point production of the season and the second best total in club history in defeating the Colorado Crush 73-55. He finished the game as Dallas' second leading receiver with six catches for 67 yards while intercepting his second pass of the season – which he returned 16 yards to the Crush two-yard line – breaking up another pass and recovering a late Colorado fumble which returned two yards for a touchdown.

McCullough caught four passes for 44 yards in the first half before leading the Desperados second half defensive charge that limited the Crush to 27 second half points, including only six in the third quarter. After holding Colorado on downs on their second possession of the third period, McCullough caught a tipped Dutton pass and the Crush 18-yard line and raced to the two-yard line before being forced out of bounds. Three plays later, Dallas took a 52-34 lead with a Jim Kubiak-to-Dialleo Burks touchdown pass. Late in the final frame, Tom Briggs burst through the Colorado line and sacked Dutton, forcing a fumble which McCullough recovered at the Colorado two-yard line and returned for a touchdown and a 73-48 Dallas advantage with less than a minute remaining in the game.

For his efforts at Reunion Arena Friday night, McCullough was named Ironman of the Game at the conclusion of the contest. For the season, he is the squad's second leading receiver with 38 receptions for 505 yards and a team-high tying nine touchdowns. His reception total is the 11th best total in the league and his receiving yardage is 10th best in the league.

McCullough and the rest of the Dallas Desperados return to Reunion Arena this weekend to host the Grand Rapids Rampage. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and tickets are available by calling 972-785-4900, visiting metroplex TicketMaster locations or by ordering through the Desperados website at www.dallasdesperados.com.
