
San Jose Opens up Seven Game Road Trip with Hard Fought 2-1 Loss in Ontario

ONTARIO, CA -The San Jose Barracuda (3-6-0-1, 7pts) presented by Barracuda Networks kicked off their season long seven game road trip with a 2-1 loss to the host Ontario Reign (8-1-2-0, 18pts) in front of 7,424 fans at the Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday evening. The Barracuda are back in action on Friday, November 13 at 7:05pm at the San Diego Gulls.
Jeremy Langlois scored his 3rd goal in his last four games and Aaron Dell was solid with 21 saves in net for San Jose. Kurtis MacDermid and Sean Backman scored first period goals for the Reign while goaltender Peter Budaj made 16 saves for his 8th win of the season as Ontario won their third straight game.
Ontario charged out to a 2-0 lead through 20 minutes of play as Kurtis MacDermid (1st) scored his first professional goal as his shot from the center point snuck through traffic and past goaltender Aaron Dell at 11:11 and Sean Backman (2nd) sent a snap shot from 20 feet into the cage at 18:15. Shots were 11-5 in favor of the Reign.
The two clubs combined for 36 penalty minutes in the second period as the Barracuda scored the period's only goal. Jeremy Langlois (3rd) broke in down the left wing side and cut on top of the circles and sent a wicked shot past the blocker side of goaltender Peter Budaj at 10:38 to cut the Ontario lead to 2-1. Shots were 19-10 in favor of Ontario through 40 minutes of play.
Ontario killed off a late 5-on-3 man advantage for the Barracuda as the Reign held on for a 2-1 home victory. Shots were 7-4 in favor of San Jose in a scoreless third period.
The Barracuda record falls to 3-6-0-1 overall with a 2-2-0-0 record on the road.

Patrick McNally and Frazer McLaren (injured) did not dress for the Barracuda...Micheal Haley, Melker Karlsson, Nikolay Goldobin, and Mirco Mueller are all currently with the SJ Sharks... Bryan Lerg (3-2-5) currently has a four game point streak with an assist... the Barracuda wore their home white jerseys on the road as the Reign wore a specialty Veteran's Day jersey...Ryan Carpenter picked up his 1st professional fighting major in the second period in a fight vs. Ryan Horvat....the Barracuda had a season high 21 penalty minutes.
