San Jose Giants Set Attendance Record

SAN JOSE, CA- Ramon Valle helped make history Thursday night at Municipal Stadium when he entered the front gate as the 200,000th fan this season.

For the first time in their history, the San Jose Giants reached the 200,000 fan plateau before Thursday night's game against the Lancaster JetHawks. The San Jose Giants have already set the single-season attendance record for the fourth consecutive year (currently at 201,461) with three games remaining in the regular season.

Ramon Valle was greeted with a celebration at the front gate and was presented with a gift basket including a San Jose Giants VIP Playoff Pass: valid for tickets, BBQ and parking during every game of the 2009 Playoffs, San Jose Giants gear and memorabilia including a Pablo Sandoval signed ball and an autographed photo featuring some of the top prospects in the Giants system. In addition, several San Jose Giants partners graciously donated items for the special gift basket including 24 Hour Fitness, Gilroy Gardens, Giorgio's, 95.3 KRTY, Los Lagos, IN-N-Out, Rotten Robbie, SmokeEaters Hot Wings, and State Farm.

"I was completely shocked when the confetti was thrown. I didn't realize what had happened until people started congratulating me," said Valle. "The San Jose Giants are such a terrific asset to our community and we look forward to coming to the ballpark several times each year and rooting for the Beer Batter to Strikeout."

Ramon Valle a native of San Lorenzo, CA is an IT Tester at Safeway Corporate Office and has been attending San Jose Giants games for the past few seasons and grew up an avid San Francisco Giants fan.

Juliana Paoli, San Jose Giants Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs congratulated Ramon and his fiancé Natalia Martins at the front gate. "The 2009 season has been such a memorable year both on and off the field, our entire organization including players, staff and fans have enjoyed being part of this historical season," said Paoli. "We want to thank Ramon for his continued support of the team. We truly have the best fans in Minor League Baseball. This is a great milestone for us and definitely a wonderful way to close out the end of the regular season."

Municipal Stadium has been the home of the San Jose Giants since 1988, and the Giants have hosted more than 100,000 fans each season of its existence. The San Jose Giants set a franchise attendance record in 2008, welcoming 183,788 fans through the gates last season. Including tonight's 200,000th fan the San Jose Giants have welcomed a total of 3,183,911 fans into Municipal Stadium.

The San Jose Giants are the 2009 First Half Northern Division Champions for a record fifth straight season and are closing in on the Second Half Title as well. With three regular season home games remaining, the Giants are preparing for the playoffs and will open the Division Series at home, September 12th at 2:00 PM.
