Giants Begin Three-Game Series At Stockton This Afternoon... The San Jose Giants continue their road trip this afternoon with the opener of a three-game series against the Stockton Ports at Banner Island Ballpark. San Jose began the trip by dropping two out of three games at Visalia in a series that concluded last night. The Rawhide won the series opener on Thursday by an 8-3 score before the Giants rallied for a 13-8 victory on Friday. In last night's rubber game, Visalia overcame an early three-run deficit to pick-up a 7-5 win. The Rawhide scored three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game before taking the lead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Luke Anders (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Adam Duvall (2-for-4) had two hits apiece while Ricky Oropesa (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) and Dan Burkhart (1- for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) each drove home two runs to lead the San Jose offensive attack. Giants starting pitcher Shawn Sanford suffered the loss after allowing six runs (all earned) on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Longest Road Trip This Season... The Giants are currently in the midst of their longest road trip of the season. Beginning last Thursday, San Jose will play nine straight games away from Municipal Stadium over a 10-day period. The Giants began the trip by dropping two out of three games at Visalia. After the current series against Stockton and a day off on Wednesday, the road trip concludes with a three-game set at Bakersfield. San Jose is 8-12 away from home this season having endured an eight-game road losing streak from April 19-May 7. By comparison, the Giants own the best home record in the California League at 19-4.

First Series Loss Since Late-April... With last night's defeat at Visalia, the Giants suffered their first series loss since they were swept by the Rawhide in a three-game set from April 27-29 at Recreation Park. San Jose had won five consecutive series'. Despite the series loss, the Giants have won 13 out of their last 18 games.

First Half Success... The Giants enter the 2012 season having won a California League record seven consecutive first half North Division titles (2005-2011). First half division winners clinch a playoff berth and earn a first round bye. San Jose (27-16) is 2 1/2 games ahead of the Bakersfield Blaze (24-18) for the top spot in the first half North Division race. The Giants have led or had a share of the division lead for all but four days this season. San Jose possesses the top overall record in the California League.

Duvall Heats Up... Third baseman Adam Duvall brings a season-high eight- game hit streak into today's contest. During the hit streak, Duvall is batting .500 (15-for-30) with four doubles, two home runs and nine RBI's. He's driven home at least one run in seven out of the eight games. Duvall has raised his season batting average from .190 to .252 during the streak. He also now leads the Giants with six home runs this season.

Stellar Pitching... The Giants are currently third in the California League in ERA (3.70) while they're tops in shutouts (6). Only Bakersfield (3.46) and Lake Elsinore (3.63) have lower team earned run averages than San Jose. Individually, Jack Snodgrass is tied for second in the league with a 1.69 ERA. Snodgrass is tied for second in the league with five wins while Shawn Sanford is tied for fourth with four victories. Out of the bullpen, Seth Rosin is tied for second in the California League with eight saves. San Jose has led the league in ERA seven times over the last eight seasons.

Lollis Lifts San Jose Offense... Outfielder Ryan Lollis has hit safely in 28 out of his first 31 games this season and leads the Giants with a .325 batting average. During his current eight-game hit streak, Lollis is batting .375 (12-for-32) with a triple, his first home run of the season and seven RBI's.

Walk This Way... San Jose has drawn a league-high 166 walks this season. Individually, Joe Panik (T4th, 22), Jarrett Parker (T4th, 22), Ricky Oropesa (7th, 21) and Andrew Susac (T11th, 18) rank among the top 11 in the league in walks. The Giants have also struck out 387 times this season to lead the league.

Odds And Ends... The Giants are 20-7 this season when facing a right- handed starting pitcher, but just 7-9 against left-handers ... San Jose is off to a 13-5 start in May after posting a 14-11 April record ... The Giants have allowed double-figures in runs just once in their first 43 games this season ... San Jose has a league-best 10-4 record in one-run games.

Opponent Notes: Stockton Ports... The Stockton Ports, an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, enter today's action with a league-worst 13-29 record. Stockton is in last place in the North Division - 13 1/2 games behind the Giants. The Ports recently suffered a 16-game losing streak from April 29-May 15. They've lost 23 out of their last 26 games dating back to April 22. San Jose swept Stockton in a three- game set at Municipal Stadium from May 1-3 in the only previous meeting between the teams. The Ports are last in the league in batting average (.241) and tied for seventh in ERA (4.54).
