THE SAN JOSE GIANTS... continue their road trip this evening with the opener of a three-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks at Clear Channel Stadium. San Jose won two out of three games from the host High Desert Mavericks in their most recent series. The Giants began their road trip with a 10-4 victory on Wednesday before a 7-5 win on Thursday. San Jose though was unable to complete the sweep as the Mavericks cruised to an 8-1 win in yesterday's game. High Desert's Andrew Carraway took a shutout into the ninth inning to earn the win in last night's contest. Carraway scattered nine hits and allowed just one run over 8 1/3 innings while the Mavericks scored six runs over the first three frames. Giants starter Eric Stolp suffered the loss after surrendering five runs (all earned) on six hits over just 1 1/3 innings of work. Juan Perez, Francisco Peguero and Drew Biery each finished with two hits to lead the San Jose offensive attack.

Media Coverage... The entire series from Lancaster can be heard live on www.sjgiants.com with Joe Ritzo calling all of the action. All 140 games this season will be aired on the club's official website.

Second Half Struggles... Despite their series win over High Desert, the Giants continue to sit in last place in the North Division with a 7-15 record. San Jose has yet to win three straight games since the All- Star break while they're just 2-8 at home (5-7 on the road). The Giants still boast the top overall record in the North Division at 52-40 - four games ahead of the Modesto Nuts (48-44) and Visalia Rawhide (48-44).

Culberson's Power Surge... Second baseman Charlie Culberson has hit three home runs over his last five games and is batting .400 (8- for-20) with seven RBI's during that span. The former supplemental first round draft pick is leading the Giants in home runs (13), RBI's (58), hits (110), doubles (26) and slugging percentage (.532). Culberson hit only two home runs in 132 games last season with Augusta (Low-A) and had just six in the first three years of his professional career entering 2010.

San Jose Searching For Success In Lancaster ... Wins have been hard to come by in recent years for the Giants at Clear Channel Stadium as San Jose owns a 2-13 record in Lancaster since the 2006 season. The Giants lost all three games to the host JetHawks in 2006 and 2008 while they managed just one win during the 2007 (1-5) and 2009 (1-2) campaigns. Over the last four seasons, San Jose is averaging 8.2 runs allowed per game in Lancaster.

Versus The South... Last Saturday marked the beginning of a stretch where the Giants will play 18 out of 21 games against teams from the South Division. San Jose is 10-12 against South Division opponents this season, including a 7-2 mark on the road.

Peguero Nears Triples Record... Outfielder Francisco Peguero hit his league-leading 11th triple on Thursday tying him for second on the Giants single-season list. Peguero is now tied with Fred Lewis (2004), Arturo McDowell (2001) and Mike Caruso (1997). Clay Timpner holds the team record when he finished with 12 triples during the 2005 season. Peguero is batting .415 (27-for-65) over his last 16 games. Peguero is also third in the league with 32 stolen bases.

Weekend Perfection... The Giants are 11-0 this season in weekend road games. San Jose is 6-0 on Saturday's away from home and 5-0 on Sunday's.

Late-Inning Comebacks... The Giants have won eight games this season when trailing after seven innings - tops in the California League. San Jose's four victories when trailing after eight innings is tied for the league lead.

San Jose Wins League Record Sixth Consecutive First Half Title... The San Jose Giants have won their California League record sixth consecutive first half North Division title. The Giants finished the first half with a 45-25 mark - eight games ahead of both the Modesto Nuts (37-33) and Visalia Rawhide (37-33). By virtue of winning the first half, San Jose secures a berth in the playoffs and will receive a first round bye. The Giants have won three league championships (2005, 2007, 2009) in the last five seasons and will be attempting to win back-to-back titles for the first time in franchise history this September. San Jose will open the playoffs on Saturday, September 11 at Municipal Stadium with Game One of the best-of-five North Division Series. The previous league record for consecutive first half division titles was three (Visalia).

Lancaster JetHawks... The Lancaster JetHawks, an affiliate of the Houston Astros, enter tonight's action with an overall record of 33-59 - worst in the California League. The JetHawks are 10-12 in the second half - three games behind the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for the top spot in the South Division. Lancaster is tied for fourth in the California League in batting average (.275), eighth in runs scored (4.7), seventh in home runs (66) and last in ERA (5.25). The JetHawks won two out of three games from the host Giants in their only previous meeting (July 1-3). Ross Seaton is slated to make the start on the mound tonight. Seaton is 4-9 with a 5.74 ERA in 18 starts this season. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits over five innings in his July 1 start against San Jose.
