San Antonio Missions News Release
San Antonio's 11-game win streak was snapped Sunday afternoon at Wolff Stadium as Frisco racked up a season-high 16 hits in a 10-3 rout.
The RoughRiders, looking to avoid its second straight sweep at the hands of the Missions, came out swinging Sunday afternoon. San Antonio right-hander Cal Quantrill quickly fell behind 2-0 in the first after a Jose Trevino triple and a Hunter Cole sacrifice fly.
Josh Naylor got one back for the Missions in the bottom of the first against Ariel Jurado with a single to left center.
The rest of Sunday's contest belonged to Frisco, however, as the visitors would plate runs in each of the first five innings, highlighted by Eliezer Alvarez's three-run homer off Quantrill in the fourth that made the score 7-1. Quantrill (2-3) departed following the fourth after allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks, while striking out one.
Frisco (8-28) pushed its lead to 9-1 in the fifth against Gerardo Reyes with Alvarez's two-run single to left. Alvarez finished with a game-high five RBI and a game-high, tying three hits.
San Antonio trimmed its deficit to six in the seventh with a pair of runs off reliever Adam Choplick.
Luis Marte capped scoring in the ninth with an RBI-double to left off right-hander Jason Jester.
Jurado (1-1) earned his first win of the season with six strong innings of one-run, six-hit ball.
San Antonio (25-11) begins an eight-game road trip Monday with the first of four against Corpus Christi (20-16). First pitch from Whataburger Field is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Miguel Diaz (1-1, 2.66) will take the hill in Monday night's series opener for the Missions, while the Hooks counter with fellow righty Yoanys Quiala (2-3, 5.86).
