San Antonio's Justin Hancock Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for May 25-31

San Antonio -The San Antonio Missions are proud to announce that right-hander Justin Hancock was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for May 25-May 31.

In two starts this past week, Hancock went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, while sporting an impressive K:BB ratio of 14:3 over 11 innings. For the week, Hancock was T-1st in the TL in wins, ERA and strikeouts.

Both of Hancock's starts this past week were in doubleheaders. On May 25 vs. Frisco, Hancock guided San Antonio to a 6-0 win in game one with five innings of two-hit ball. Hancock was even more dominant in his next outing on May 30 at Northwest Arkansas, where he completed the Missions' doubleheader sweep (SA won game two, 5-2) by allowing just four hits and one walk, while striking out a career-high eight over six shutout innings.

In 10 starts this season, Hancock is 5-1 with a 2.02 ERA and a K:BB ratio of 44:23 over 58 innings. He is 2nd in the TL in innings pitched, T-2nd in wins and 3rd in ERA. The Defiance, OH native has allowed two or less runs in each of his last seven starts, including three scoreless efforts. During that stretch, which began on April 26, Hancock's 1.29 ERA (6 ER/42 IP) is the 8th lowest at the Double-A level.

San Diego selected Hancock in the 9th Round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, IL. The 24-year-old hurler is currently the No. 16 prospect in the Padres' organization according to MLB.com.
