San Antonio Missions News Release
SPRINGDALE--The Missions improbably swept a double-header from the league's second best team Saturday night in front of 5,060 at Arvest Ballpark.
San Antonio entered the day having been shutout four times in six games while scoring 18 runs in their 10 previous contests. The North Division-leading Naturals started the day with a 30-15 mark and had lost only six of 26 home games.
Justin Hancock worked six scoreless innings in the nightcap to earn his fifth straight winning decision while Michael Dimock fanned the only batter he faced to notch his second save. Hancock has allowed only two runs (solo homers) in 29 innings over his last five outings while allowing a mere nine runs in his last nine starts.
The Missions scored three times in the opening inning of game two to stake Hancock to an early lead.
NW Arkansas' Luke Farrell blanked San Antonio over the first five innings of the opener before the Missions broke thru with a three-run sixth to chase Farrell from the game.
San Antonio snapped a four game losing streak and has won two straight for just the second time in 20 games.
NOTES: Starter Chris Smith was pulled from his game one start after four innings when it was announced that he will be promoted to AAA El Paso...Trea Turner hit safely in both games to extend his hitting streak to 16, tying teammate Travis Jankowski for the longest in the league this year. Turner's on-base streak stands at a league-best 30 games
