SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC beat Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2-1 at Toyota Field on Saturday. Two goals in the first half earned the hosts three points at home in front of 6,052 fans.

"I couldn't be more proud of our players," SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. "They did a fantastic job. They can feel good about their performance tonight and now we have to put those performances back to back and get ready for Thursday's game."

SAFC forward Victor Araujo opened the scoring early in the match with a chip over the Switchbacks goalkeeper after midfielder Michael Reed sparked a counter attack in the visitors' third of the pitch.

The hosts added another goal in the 35th minute when defender Stephen McCarthy capitalized on an SAFC set piece. Switchbacks goalkeeper Devala Gorrick saved McCarthy's header from an Araujo cross, but was unable to keep out McCarthy's rebound shot, which crossed the line.

Colorado Springs narrowed the deficit in the 50th minute after earning a penalty kick. Luke Vercollone capitalized from the penalty spot, but the Switchbacks were unable to find the equalizer despite creating several chances.

The win was San Antonio's first in league play first since April 30. The club has now tallied three goals in their last two USL matches.

San Antonio FC will return to USL action on Thursday, June 23 as they host Orange County Blues FC at Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
