SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC has signed defender Lamar Batista to a 25-day contract, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are happy to add the quality of Lamar on such short notice," said head coach Alen Marcina. "He brings speed, is aggressive in one-versus-one duels and demonstrates the ability to break opposition lines off a vertical pass or dribble. He demonstrates a growth mindset with his willingness and commitment to learn and execute our game model principles."

Batista turned pro after one season with UC Santa Barbara, joining the Portland Timbers. The centerback has appeared in 64 USL Championship matches over four seasons, most recently for OKC Energy FC in 2021. Last season, Batista appeared in 23 matches with Rochester in MLS Next Pro.

Saturday's match against Oakland Roots SC kicks off at 7:30 p.m. CT from Toyota Field. Tickets are still available at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app. The match will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
