
San Angelo\'s Comback Falls Short, Pelicans Win

It's a good thing Larry Bethea was up in the 9th inning, more times than none, he comes thru to win the game for the Pelicans. With the score tied 6-6, one runner one base, Larry Bethea hits a game winning double in the bottom of the 9th.
Pensacola took the lead in the 4th when they scored five runs. Larry Bethea led off the inning getting hit by a pitch. Josey Shannon then a hit a controversial double down the right field line and Talmadge Nunnari walked to load the bases. Jose Salas then hit a base clearing triple to dead center field. Andy Wilson then walked and stole second base putting runners on 2nd and 3rd base. Carlos Mendoza then hit a single scoring both Salas and Wilson. That made the score 5-0 in favor of the Pelicans. Pensacola would add one more in the 5th to make it 6-0 on a Mike Rodriguez sacrifice fly which scored Josey Shannon who reached on a fielder's choice.
Pelicans pitcher, Jayson Sigley shut down the Colts' bats. He threw six shut-out innings, gave up only four hits and struckout six. Sigley, however was not able to get the win as the Colts scored six runs in the 7th off relievers Trey Stephens, Kelvin Mitchell and Charlie Griffin. When the inning was over they tied the score at six with five hits and thanks to one error.
In the bottom half of the 9th, Joe Espada led off the inning with a single to right center and then stole second base. Bethea than hit a double over the head over the Colt's center fielder to score Espada for the game winning run.
