Pensacola Pelicans News Release
Pelicans pitcher, Jeff Norris, doesn't throw hard but he definitely knows how to pitch. Between Norris's pitching and Larry Bethea's bat, the Pelicans beat the San Angelo Colts 8-2 at Pelicans Park.
Norris threw six innings, gave up only two hits and one run and struck-out four. With the win he improves to 3-0 since joining the team. Larry Bethea led the offensive power for the Pelicans going 3-4 with three RBI. Jose Salas and George Branch also had three hit on the night.
Pensacola got on the board in the first inning, when Bethea doubled scoring Joe Espada who singled. Pensacola added two more in the 2nd inning to make the score 3-0. Mike Rodriguez, George Branch and Jose Salas all singled and Andy Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
George Branch hit the foul poll for a fair ball for his 11th homerun on the year to make the score 4-0. San Angelo would get their first run in the top of the 5th on a throwing error by Pensacola's second baseman, which scored Kasey Wilson. San Angelo would add one more run in the 7th to make the score 6-2.
Pensacola would get their final two runs in the 8th inning with hits by Wilson, Mendoza, Salas and Bethea. The final score was 8-2.
Pensacola improves to 11-4 and San Angelo falls to 5-11 in the second half.
