All-Star Game set for Tuesday, July 20 in Fort Worth

July 14, 2004 - Central Baseball League (Central League) - Fort Worth Cats News Release

The Central Baseball League All-Star Game will take on a unique format this year when the Central League All-Stars face the Northeast League All-Stars at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth on July 20 at 7:35 p.m.

“We are pleased to be hosting the All-Star Game next week,” said Cats general manager Monty Clegg. “The last couple of years the East Division played the West Division. We thought this might make it a little bit more exciting for the fans. We have a great luncheon planned the day of the game with Maury Wills being the featured speaker. We’ve also included a fireworks show after the game.”

“We are really excited about playing the game in Fort Worth,” said Central Baseball League commissioner Miles Wolff. “It should be a great environment. When two leagues play one another like this, you get the best players out of each league and it makes for a very interesting game.”

Three players from the Cats made the Central League team. Pitchers Angel Aragon and Brandon Wood along with catcher Jason Radwan will represent the Cats in next Tuesday night’s event. Cats’ manager Wayne Terwilliger will serve as a coach for the Central League team.

This marks the seventh time that an All-Star Game has been played at LaGrave Field. The Cats hosted Texas League All-Star Games in 1940, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1954 and 1958.

Tickets for the game are $5-12 and can be ordered by calling 817-226-2287.
