Sam Leshnak Joins NC Courage as Goalkeeper Replacement

CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage have signed goalkeeper Sam Leshnak as a goalkeeper replacement, the club announced today. Leshnak will serve as a goalkeeper replacement for Katelyn Rowland, who is unavailable due to a shoulder injury. The Liberty Township, Ohio, native has been training with the team during the preseason.
Leshnak recently finished her senior season at the University of North Carolina under the guidance of Anson Dorrance. She made appearances in 54 games in four years, including 27 in her senior year. Leshnak had 87 saves during her college career.
Leshnak will be available for selection as the NC Courage kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, April 13 against the Chicago Red Stars at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:00 p.m. ET. There will be a pregame NWSL Championship ring ceremony presented by Charles & Colvard, the official jewelry sponsor of the NC Courage. The team will quickly turn around for another home match on Wednesday, April 17 against the Orlando Pride. This match will also take place at Sahlen's Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET.
