Saltdogs Bite of the Week â It's been an exciting week for the Saltdogs organization. With the announcement that Tim Johnson will be returning as Lincoln's manager in 2004, the upcoming season seems just a bit closer. In a telephone interview from Mexico, where he's managing Obregon of the Mexican Pacific League, Johnson said his 88-year-old mother was a key to his return. "She told me I was happier than I was in years, and that's the most important thing. She's right, my time in Lincoln was the best time I've had in 10 years." In addition to Johnson's return, the Saltdogs announced their 2004 schedule this past week. It is viewable online at saltdogs.com.
Saltdogs Question of the Week â What is the average pay that a Saltdogs player receives?
Northern League teams have a salary cap near $100,000 per season. With a 22 player roster, that means the average salary is about $1500 per month. As you can see, players in the Northern League are not playing for the love of money, but rather for the love of the game. Front Office Profile â Ryan Lockhart â Director of Stadium Operations
Ryan interned in the stadium operations department in 2001, then after a year of soul-searching found himself back at 403 Line Drive, Suite A. Affectionately (at times) known as Locky, in his younger days Ryan used his stocky frame to block baseballs as a catcher for the Doane College baseball team. Though the catching gear has been referred to as the âtools of ignorance', Ryan is definitely much smarter than he looks.
