Salt Lake Opens 2015 Season at Sacramento

April 9, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees kick off their 2015 campaign Thursday night with a four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field. This series marks the first of four in which the two teams will face off for a total of 16 games this season.

After 15 years under Oakland A's affiliation, the River Cats made the switch to the Giant's organization in the offseason, bringing a whole new team to Sacramento. Bees starting pitcher Jeremy McBryde previously played for Sacramento under Oakland affiliation in 2014, while River Cat starter Robert Coello suited up for Salt Lake in 2013.

Last season, the Bees struggled against the River Cats as they dropped 11 of 16 against their Pacific division rival including all eight games played at Raley Field. Salt Lake was slightly improved against former Giants affiliate Fresno in 2014, recording a 6-10 clip.

Adam Wilk, acquired from the Pirates in the offseason, earns the Salt Lake starting job for Opening Day. The lefty suited up for Triple-A Indianapolis last season, recording a 7-14 record with a 4.74 ERA. He is followed in the rotation by Andrew Heaney, Nick Tropeano and Alex Sanabia.

Next, the Bees will play four in Fresno April 13-16 before heading back to Salt Lake for the home opener on April 17 with the home stand lasting through April 24. Smith's Ballpark Opening Night will be played against Sacramento and will feature fireworks and a magnetic schedule give-away. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
