NEWS Redbirds Host Home Opener Thursday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds are excited to kick off the upcoming regular season at AutoZone Park on Thursday, April 9 with an eight-game homestand against top Minor League prospect Kris Bryant and the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A Cubs) and back-to-back Triple-A National Champion Omaha Storm Chasers (Triple-A Royals). The promotion-packed homestand will be highlighted by new family-friendly promotions and returning fan-favorites from 2014.

Thursday, April 9 vs. Iowa Cubs at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

- Opening Night: The Redbirds kick off the 2015 regular season at AutoZone Park. Opening Night festivities and pregame ceremonies will precede first pitch from St. Louis Cardinals top prospect Marco Gonzales.

- National Anthem: "The Queen of Beale Street," Ruby Wilson, will perform the National Anthem.

- Magnet Schedule Giveaway: 5,000 fans will receive a 2015 Redbirds magnet schedule upon entry.

Friday, April 10 vs. Iowa Cubs at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

- Redbirds T-Shirt Giveaway: 2,000 fans will receive a Redbirds t-shirt upon entry, courtesy of Christian Brothers University.

- Block Party: Gates open early for a Friday Block Party, featuring $2 select draft beer specials and live music from the band Party Planet from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the AutoZone Park plaza.

Saturday, April 11 vs. Iowa Cubs at 6:05 p.m. (gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

- Postgame Fireworks: Kick off this special season at AutoZone Park with a unique fireworks extravaganza, the first of 12, set to Top 40-themed music.

- Baby Races: The fastest babies in town will race at AutoZone Park in the first of five Baby Races this season presented by Fertility Associates of Memphis.

Sunday, April 12 vs. Iowa Cubs at 1:35 p.m. (gates open at 12:30 p.m.)

- Prairie Farms Ice Cream Sunday: The first 2,500 kids age 12 and under will receive a free ice cream treat, courtesy of Prairie Farms Dairy.

- Kids Run the Bases: Kids 12 and under get to take the field after the game and run like the Redbirds.

Monday, April 13 vs. Omaha Storm Chasers at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

- The Redbirds and back-to-back Triple-A National Champion Omaha Storm Chasers begin a four-game series on Monday evening at AutoZone Park.

Tuesday, April 14 vs. Omaha Storm Chasers at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

- King Cotton $1 Hot Dogs: Every Tuesday home game, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs at AutoZone Park, courtesy of King Cotton.

Wednesday, April 15 vs. Omaha Storm Chasers at 11:05 a.m. (gates open at 10:00 a.m.)

- Education Day: Watching baseball can be an educational experience, as thousands of local kids from the Mid-South will be in attendance during this Wednesday matinee game.

Thursday, April 16 vs. Omaha Storm Chasers at 7:05 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)

- The Redbirds and Storm Chasers conclude a four-game series on Thursday evening at AutoZone Park.

Following the homestand, Memphis will embark upon an eight-game road trip at division-rival Round Rock (Triple-A Rangers) and Omaha before returning home on Saturday, April 25 to open a four-game homestand with the Express.
