
Salmon Kings To Face Idaho In Round One Of Playoffs

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team will begin the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs on the road versus the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday night at 6:10 p.m. PT.
Victoria finished the regular season with a 38-27-2-5 record that was good for the third seed in the West Division. Idaho gained home ice advantage for this series by accumulating a regular season record of 44-24-2-2 that gave them the second seed in the West Division.
The Best-of-Seven National Conference Quarter Final Series is a 2-3-2 format with the Salmon Kings hosting games three, four and five as the lower seed.
Tickets go on sale this Wednesday at the Select-Your-Ticket box office at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, by telephone at 250-220-7777 or by visiting www.selectyourtickets.com.
This will mark the first time that Victoria and Idaho will meet in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Salmon Kings lost the best-of-seven regular season series 1-5-0-1 and are 14-22-0-2 versus Idaho all-time.
The Salmon Kings will unveil this year's playoff slogan and promotions on Wednesday morning. Last year Victoria fans came out in droves to support their Salmon Kings. That support propelled the team to finish the 2007-08 Kelly Cup Playoffs with the highest average attendance per game amongst all ECHL clubs. An average of 5,851 fans per game attended the six playoff games that took place at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a grand total of 29,255 fans in attendance.
