Salmon Kings Announce 2007 Training Camp Roster

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today their 2007 Training Camp roster.

"We believe the 31 individuals that we have brought into camp will help us build on last year's success," Dan Belisle Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager said. "We have recruited, signed and invited players to camp that we believe will help us in our quest to reach our ultimate goal of winning the Kelly Cup."

The Salmon Kings have invited 31 players to camp including 13 players from last years team including leading scorer Wes Goldie, team captain Kiel McLeod, Milan Gajic and goaltenders Julien Ellis and Bryan Bridges.

There will be 10 new faces with pro experience in camp including former AHLers goaltender Billy Thompson and forward Kevin Estrada. Also in camp are two former Long Beach Ice Dogs forward Ash Goldie and defenseman Gary Gladue.

Rounding out the training camp roster are seven rookies. Former Calgary Hitmen defenseman Dylan Yeo and former University of Victoria captain Drew Davis will be in camp. Also attending is forward Atsushi Ohata from Nippon Taiiku University in Kita-Ku Osaka, Japan.

Camp kicks off with fitness testing this morning, and with the action turning to the ice at 2:00 p.m. for the first official on-ice sessions of the 2007-08 season. All on-ice sessions will be open to the media and the public to attend. Admission is free.

Training Camp will run from October 5th through October 14th, and will happen exclusively at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Morning practices will be held from October 6th through 9th. Afternoon scrimmages will be held daily from October 6th through 8th at 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 9th will mark the team's annual Blue/Gold Intra-squad game at the Save-On-Foods-Memorial Centre, starting at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome to come for a free night of entertainment and dollar hot dogs as the players battle to make the Salmon Kings roster.

The team then heads to Utah for two exhibition games against their West Division rivals, the Utah Grizzlies, on October 12th and 13th, before returning home to finalize the roster.
