June 22, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Holly Springs Salamanders News Release

The Holly Springs Salamanders found themselves in a hole early on Wednesday night at the North Main Athletic Complex as the Wilson Tobs scored two in the first and did not look back, surviving a late-inning Salamnders rally and held on for a 4-3 victory.

Despite the early deficit, Holly Springs (6-12) rallied back and scratched runs in the fourth and sixth innings and would add one more on a pinch hit solo home run from Devin Luiz in the eighth.

The Salamanders were able to get two runners aboard in the ninth before Wilson (11-8) slammed the door with a strikeout and held on for the 4-3 victory.

Jake Lewis would be the winning pitcher for the Tobs, improving to 3-1 on the season. Joe Williams took the loss for Holly Springs and dropped to 1-2 on the year.

The Holly Springs bullpen shined tonight as Cam Colmore and Kyle Staats twirled six innings while allow just three hits and striking out eight Tob batters. Staats led the way recording six strikeouts of his own.

Holly Springs will hit the road on Thursday night for a battle with the Wilimington Sharks before returning home on Friday night against the Sharks, first pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online at SalamandersBaseball.com.
