St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (August 30, 2013) - Since 1993 the St. Paul Saints and the Twin Cities community have embraced each other. The community has helped make the Saints one of the most successful minor league franchises in the country while the Saints have immersed themselves into that community through volunteer work, donations and bringing joy to people's faces. It's only fitting the Saints five game 2013 exhibition schedule will take them on several stops, including the city of Delano, whose motto is "The Spirit of Community."

For the sixth consecutive season the Saints will play an exhibition game in a neighboring Minnesota city on a field known for its townball teams. On Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m. the Saints will take on the North Star League All-Stars at Municipal Stadium in Central Park in Delano, MN presented by Killebrew Root Beer. The All-Star team will consist of 26 of the best players in the league from 10 different teams (Delano, Maple Lake, Loretto, Maple Plain, Dassel-Cokato, Howard Lake, Saint Michael, Rockford, Cokato and Hutchinson) hosted by the Delano Athletic Club. Prior to the game both teams will square off in a home run derby.

The game against the North Star League All-Stars will help raise money for their field.

"After what seems to be a very long winter, I can honestly say I am pleased that Killebrew Root Beer is able to sponsor our 3rd consecutive spring exhibition game, featuring the St. Paul Saints and the North Star League All Stars in Delano, MN," said RJM President of RJM Distributing Jim Lundeen.

Tickets for this special exhibition game are $7 and can be purchased in Delano at All-Seasons Sports and The Delano City Hall.

The Saints began their barnstorming tradition in 2008 when they celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Jack Ruhr Field in Miesville, taking on the Miesville Mudhens. In 2009, they played at the same field against the Cannon Valley League All-Stars. In the 2010 season, the Saints played the River Valley All-Stars at Athletic Park in Chaska and the Riverview League All-Stars at Minnetonka's Veterans Field. In 2011the Saints played at Cold Spring Park against the Cold Spring Springers and were scheduled to play against the St. Paul Amateur All-Stars at Toni Stone Field, but the game was rained out. Last season the Saints played at The Brennan in Hinckley against the Hinckley Knights/East-Minny All-Stars. Also last season the Cannon Valley All-Stars played an exhibition game against the Saints at Midway Stadium. All proceeds from these games went to support baseball programs in respective communities.

The exhibition season kicks off on Thursday, May 9 at 10:35 p.m. against the division rival, and defending North Division Champion, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. It is Education Day at the ballpark with kids from all over the Twin Cities Metro Area bringing their classrooms to the ballpark.

The Saints play their only road exhibition game against an American Association opponent on Friday, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. against the RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field.

The Saints play two on Saturday, May 11 with their 2:00 p.m. game in Delano and then jump on the bus to play a 7:35 p.m. game against the Gary SouthShore Railcats at Midway Stadium. These two will battle it out in an Umpireless Game presented by Hamline University. The final exhibition game will take place on Sunday, May 12 at 3:05 p.m. between the Saints and Railcats for this Mother's Day Game.
