DUBUQUE, Iowa - It's that time of year where college students are buried deep in textbooks, wading through piles of homework, and so tired from sleep deprivation that they are practically zombies. This Thursday night, these students can pull their heads out of the textbook and have a little more fun with being a zombie, as the Dubuque Fighting Saints host Zombieland: A Night for the Undead, at 7:05 p.m. versus the Youngstown Phantoms. All fans are encouraged to wear their best zombie attire, and college students can score a deal where they receive a ticket and $5 in Saints Bucks for only $10.
Fans are encouraged to be their best zombie for a costume contest that will be judged by fellow fans. The evening will also be themed with zombie and scary music, with songs coming from horror movies, Rob Zombie, and the ever-popular sports theme "Zombie Nation." Entertainment also features zombie trivia, contests featuring fans dressed as zombies, and zombies invading sections of the arena.
The ticket special for college students Thursday night is available with a valid college ID. For just $10, students receive an end ticket and $5 in Saints Bucks, which is good for food and drink at the concessions stands or for Fighting Saints merchandise. An end section ticket is normally $12.95 at the box office on the day of the game. College students can order over the phone by using their school name to get the deal. When they pick up their tickets at Will Call, they will need to present their college ID. They can also obtain tickets in person at the Fighting Saints box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week, and 9 a.m. through the first intermission Thursday.
Fitting with the theme, the Youngstown Phantoms invade the Mystique Community Ice Center to play the Fighting Saints for the first time since December in a potential playoff preview. If the season were to end today, Dubuque would play Youngstown to open the Eastern Conference Semifinals in the 2013 Clark Cup Playoffs.
Tickets for Thursday's Zombieland: A Night for the Undead are on sale now by calling 563.583.6880 or by visiting DubuqueFightingSaints.com. Fans are encouraged to purchase in advance to guarantee the best seat location and the lowest cost, as tickets purchased on the day of the game are an additional $1.95. Thursday's game kicks off a busy weekend for the Fighting Saints as Dubuque visits Sioux City for a road game with the Musketeers Friday night, and return home Saturday at 7:05 p.m. for Irish Night, presented by O'Toole Office Supply. The first 1,000 fans receive Irish Hand Clappers for the contest versus Prairie Farms Cowbell Cup rival Cedar Rapids.
