St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (July 11, 2007) - St. Paul Saints All-Star outfielder Brent Krause will not get a chance to play in the American Association All-Star Game. That's because he is getting a chance to play for the Baltimore Orioles organization as the Orioles purchased his contract from the Saints.

Krause was one of only two Saints to play every game this season, Brian Sprout is the other. Krause hit .379 with four homers and 41 RBI in 55 games. In 227 at bats he clubbed 20 doubles and three triples with a slugging percentage of .546 and an on base percentage of .427. He committed just three errors in the outfield and had the third most outfield assists with six. Krause was first in the American Association in hits (86), second in average, tied for third in triples, fifth in slugging percentage and tied for fifth in doubles.

"It was an honor to play for the Saints," said Krause. "I grew up watching the Saints and I enjoyed my time here."

Krause is scheduled to join the Orioles Single-A team, the Frederick Keys in the Carolina League.

Krause is the second player this season to have his contract purchased by a Major League Organization. Left-handed pitcher Luis Villarreal was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies organization in June.

The Saints roster now sits at 19 players, 10 pitchers and nine position players. The Saints can carry a maximum of 22 players.
