Sioux City C Billy Cox ripped a three-run home run in the seventh inning for his first homer of the year and 1B Jake Daubert reached base every time he came to the plate in a 3-for-3 performance. Daubert walked twice, had a double and a sacrifice fly, finishing with three runs and three RBI. The heart of the Sioux City lineup went a combined 10-for-20 in a performance that is tough to beat. Francisco went six innings and allowed only three hits and two walks for the win.

@ Sioux Falls, SD. Time: 2:53 Attendance: 2,837

Three bottom of the eighth runs for Sioux Falls broke open a tight 1-1 game and gave the Canaries a 4-2 win against St. Joe. Both teams scored a single run in the first inning, but the game remained deadlocked all the way until the eighth. In the eighth, Sioux Falls got a double, a single, a walk and a triple by 1B Abner Arroyo to seize the lead for good. St. Joe tried to mount a rally in the top of the ninth, but they could only get one unearned run on two hits against Sioux Falls closer Jerrod Fuell. Both starting pitchers racked up the strikeouts as St. Joe's Alec Sheppard fanned seven in five innings of work and Sioux Falls' Lenny Bays whiffed ten in six innings. Neither pitcher factored into the decision. Instead, it was Sioux Falls reliever Kelly Casares who picked up the win thanks to his two innings of shutout relief.
