
Saint Mary's Gaels Catcher to be a Honker this Summer

(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of catcher Jackson Thoreson from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California.
Thoreson is a 6-foot, 205-pound sophomore catcher from San Jose, Calif. He is currently hitting .375 with one home run, five RBIs and a .625 slugging percentage. He's started four games behind the plate for the 5-4 Gaels but has made seven total appearances.
As a freshman, Thoreson saw action in 34 games (20 starts), hitting .313 with 15 RBIs while committing only two errors on the season. He also allowed just seven steals in 18 attempts. The left-handed hitter posted a .385 average versus left-handed pitching and also hit .387 in 17 West Coast Conference games. He then played in the summer for the Victoria HarbourCats of the West Coast League where he hit .258 with 22 RBIs over 31 games played.
Thoreson graduated from Bellarmine College Prep High School in 2014 where he finished his high school career hitting .290 with 47 RBIs. He earned second team All-West Catholic League honors as a senior and the Billy Schmidt Award for positive attitude.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
