Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Coming off the heels of a big 5-4 victory over the Moncton Wildcats, the Charlottetown Islanders are back in action at the Eastlink Centre tonight as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens come to town for the Isles' annual Remembrance Day Game.

The Islanders defeated the Sagueneens earlier this season 3-2 in a shootout. Lukas Cormier scored the shootout winner, while Matthew Welsh made 19 saves in the victory.

With yesterday's win, the Islanders now sit sixth place in the QMJHL with a record of 12-7-1-0, just one point ahead of the visiting Sagueneens, who are 10-5-1-3.

Daniel Hardie continues to lead the way for Charlottetown with 26 point in 20 games. After scoring his 14th goal of the year last night, he sits tied with Cape Breton Screaming Eagles forward Egor Sokolov for second overall in the QMJHL in goals.

Isles forward Brett Budgell potted two goals last night against Moncton. He's quietly strung together a solid stretch of games, notching eight points in his last seven games, only being held off the scoresheet once in that time frame.

For the Sagueneens, San Jose Sharks prospect Vladislav Kotkov leads the way statistically with 20 points in 17 games. Despite being held off the scoresheet in the team's last game against Cape Breton, he's coming off of a three-goal, five-point game against the Saint John Sea Dogs in the previous game.

The star of Chicoutimi's team though might be in net. Alexis Shank currently leads all QMJHL goaltenders with a 1.57 goals against average and a .942 save percentage over 12 games played this season.

Don't forget to join us ahead of tonight's game for a special pre-game ceremony. The Prince Edward Island Regiment Band will lead the crowd in a rendition of O Canada, along with the Last Post and Reveille. Long-time Islanders billets Bill and Pat Moore, both former military personnel, will drop the ceremonial puck to kick off tonight's game.

Tonight's game is also an Olde Dublin Pub Happy Hour game. Carter MacLellan will be playing tunes in the Moose Light Lounge throughout the intermissions along with before and after the game. There will also be $3 drink specials for those 19+ before and after the game. We can't wait to see you tonight!
